Terms of Service
Who Zala Life is for, what it does and does not promise, and the rules for using it.
Last updated 18 September 2026 · version life-terms-2026-09-16. The version is unchanged because nothing already agreed to has changed: section 7 sets out how paying works for a plan that was not on sale before, and you agree to it at the moment you subscribe. Operated by Zala Software FZ-LLC, VUNE2496, Compass Building – Al Hulaila, Al Hulaila Industrial Zone–FZ, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. These terms are written to be clear, but they are a starting-point draft, not legal advice for your situation. If anything here is unclear, write to support@zala-me.com before relying on it.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms govern your use of Zala Life, including the web app, the Zala email address you can forward documents to, the Zala Telegram bot, and imports from Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to the Privacy page, which explains what happens to your documents.
2. What Zala Life does
Zala Life stores the documents you give it — contracts, bills, policies, permits — and, with your permission, reads them to find dates, amounts and what each document asks you to do. It proposes obligations and reminders from what it finds, answers questions about your documents, and reminds you before things are due. It is a personal organiser for your own paperwork.
3. Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Zala Life is not offered to people who live in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. We ask which country you live in when you set up your account, and you must answer truthfully. We do not provide the Service to residents of those countries, and we may close an account if we learn that its holder lives in one of them.
- Each account is for one person and their own documents.
4. Your account
You sign in through our authentication provider, Clerk. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. If you link a Telegram chat or give out your Zala email address, documents sent to them arrive in your account — see the Privacy page for how those are marked and handled. Tell us at support@zala-me.com if you think someone else has access.
5. What Zala Life does not promise
These are the same points you agree to when you set up your account, and they matter more than anything else on this page:
- It is not legal, financial or immigration advice. Zala Life highlights what your documents say. Links to official rules are general information about a kind of document, not advice about yours.
- Reading can be wrong. Dates, amounts and obligations are read automatically and can be misread or missed. A reminder for something critical only starts after you confirm the value against the document, and you should check anything important against the original.
- Reminders are a prompt, not a guarantee. A reminder can be late or fail to arrive — for example if a notification service is down or your contact details are wrong. You remain responsible for meeting your own deadlines.
- Answers are only as good as the documents. An answer quotes the words it came from so you can check it. If your documents do not say something, Zala Life should say so rather than guess, but it can still get things wrong.
6. Plans and limits
- Trial. Seven days, with up to 3 documents, 5 pages and 10 MB of storage, and no AI questions (answers from your own records still work). When the trial ends, you cannot add new documents, but everything already in your account stays and your reminders keep working.
- Plus. $9.99 a month, or $99 a year: 40 documents a month, up to 100 pages a month, 100 AI questions a month and 2 GB of storage. AI questions you do not use carry into the next month only, and are not carried again after that. A document counts in the month it is added, including if you later delete it, because it has already been read. Long documents use more of the page allowance than short ones.
- Renewal. Plus renews automatically at the end of each billing period — every month on the monthly price, every year on the annual price — and is charged again each time until you cancel. The limits are the same on both prices and start again each calendar month, including on the annual price. To move between monthly and annual, cancel and subscribe again on the other when your current period ends.
- Top-ups. On Plus, a top-up costs $4.99 and adds 20 documents, 50 pages and 50 AI questions for the month you buy it, and 1 GB of storage for as long as you stay on Plus. Several top-ups add together. Top-up documents, pages and questions are used after your plan's own, and any left unused carry into the next month only. If you leave Plus, the extra storage ends: nothing already stored is deleted, but you cannot add documents until you are within your limit.
- AI questions are questions Zala answers by reading your documents with AI. Answers from your own records — what is due, your reminders, values already read — do not count.
- Paying for Plus. What it costs, how it renews, how to cancel, and what is and is not refunded are in section 7.
- We may change the limits of a plan with notice. The limits that apply to you are shown in the app.
7. Paying for Plus
Plus is bought in the web app, at Setup & limits → Your plan. This is what you agree to when you pay.
- What it costs. Plus is $9.99 a month or $99 a year, and a top-up is $4.99. All prices are in US dollars and are the whole amount you pay: we are not registered for VAT and no tax is added to them today. If that changes, the tax will be shown to you before you pay.
- Who takes the payment. Payments are taken by Stripe, on Stripe's own pages. Zala never sees or stores your card details. What we keep is a reference to your Stripe customer and subscription and what you bought, which the Privacy page sets out.
- Renewing. Plus renews automatically at the end of each billing period — each month on the monthly price, each year on the annual one — and is charged again each time, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time, at Setup & limits → Your plan → Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Plus then continues to the end of the period you have already paid for and stops at the end of it. After that the account works as it does when a trial has ended: everything already in it stays, your reminders keep working, and you cannot add new documents.
- Refunds. We do not refund time already paid for, including a month or a year you have only partly used, and a top-up is not refundable. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not return the one already made. Nothing here takes away a refund the law requires us to give you.
- Moving between monthly and annual. There is no switch between the two. Cancel, and once the period you have paid for has ended, subscribe again on the other price.
- Top-ups. A top-up is a single payment, not a subscription: it is charged once, adds what section 6 describes for the month you buy it in, and is not refundable, including the part of it you never use. Unused top-up documents, pages and questions carry into the next month only.
- If a payment fails. Stripe tries again over the following days and writes to you. Plus keeps working while it does, and for seven days after the end of the period the payment was for; you cannot buy a top-up while a payment is overdue. If the payment never succeeds, Stripe ends the subscription and Plus ends with it, and the account works as it does after cancelling. Nothing is deleted because a payment failed — your documents, what was read from them and your reminders stay. You can subscribe again at any time.
- If we change a price. We will tell you before a new price takes effect, and it applies from your next renewal — never to a period you have already paid for. If you do not want the new price, cancel before that renewal.
8. Your documents
Your documents, and everything read out of them, remain yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only to provide the Service to you — including sending the parts needed to the providers you have allowed, as the Privacy page describes. We do not use your documents for advertising, and we do not sell them.
Only add documents you have the right to add. Do not upload other people's documents without their permission. Identity documents such as passports and residence permits are stored but not read.
Deleting a document moves it to Trash for 30 days, where you can restore it. What happens after that, and when copies are finally removed, is set out in the Privacy page. Deleting a document in Zala Life does not delete copies you sent through Telegram or email.
9. Services Zala Life relies on
The Service depends on other companies, including Amazon Web Services (storage and processing), Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments), Mistral AI (reading scans, if you allow it), Google (reading documents and answering questions, if you allow it), and — only if you choose to use them — Telegram, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox. Your use of Telegram and of your own cloud drives is also covered by those companies' terms.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to store documents that are illegal, fraudulent or not yours to hold;
- try to reach another person’s account or documents, or our systems or providers;
- scrape, reverse-engineer or automate access to the Service beyond normal use, or try to get around its limits;
- flood the Zala email address or Telegram bot, or use them to send anything other than documents and questions;
- resell the Service or offer it to others as your own.
11. Our software and name
The Service, its software, design and the Zala name are owned by us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to use them beyond using the Service.
12. Changes to the Service
Zala Life is new and still changing. We may add, change or remove features, and the Service may be unavailable at times for maintenance or because of problems with the services it relies on. We will try to tell you about changes that matter to you in advance.
13. Suspension and closing your account
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the Service or other people at risk, or belongs to someone the Service is not offered to. You can stop using Zala Life at any time and ask us to close your account by writing to support@zala-me.com; the Privacy page explains what is removed and when. Sections that by their nature should continue — such as limits on liability — survive closure.
14. No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.
15. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we and our providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits, fees, fines or penalties, arising from your use of the Service — including a date or amount that was misread, a reminder that did not arrive, or an answer that was wrong. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose, or USD 50 if you have not paid us. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. Indemnity
You agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, from claims arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. The courts of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC Courts) have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms or the Service.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
